Illinois Bioptic Laws

Bioptic are permitted for driving and to pass the licensure test.

• Visual Acuity: 20/40 in the better eye, with or without corrective lenses.
• 20/70 in the better eye: restricted license (daylight only).
• 20/100 in the better eye, 20/40 through bioptic telescope.
• Up to 3X telescopes only.
• Visual Field: Field of vision must be 140 degrees for a person with two eyes. For monocular, 70 degrees temporally & 35 degrees nasally.
