Tennessee Bioptic Laws

Bioptics are permitted for driving and to pass the licensure test. 

• Visual Acuity: 20/40 in the better eye, with or without corrective lenses.  
• 20/60 in the better eye with restrictions. 20/200 in the better eye requires bioptic telescope; 20/60 through the telescope.
• Visual Field: 150 degrees in the horizontal meridian.
• Bioptic telescopes are permitted to meet visual acuity standards with several restrictions. Carrier vision maximum is 20/200 and telescope acuity maximum is 20/60.
