Virginia Bioptic Laws

 Bioptic are permitted for driving and to pass the licensure test.

• Visual Acuity: 20/40 in the better eye, with or without corrective lenses.  
• 20/200 in the better eye with restrictions.
• Visual Field: 70 degrees or better binocularly. Monocularly 40 degrees temporally and 30 nasally.
• Bioptic driving: 20/200 through carrier, 20/70 through telescope; may be restricted to daylight only, but may be lifted after one year.
