Richard L. Windsor, O.D., F.A.A.O., DPNAP
Dr. Richard L. Windsor received his Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science degrees from Indiana University. Dr. Windsor received the Fox Optical Awards as the Outstanding Senior Clinician at the Indiana 
University School of Optometry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. The American Optometric Association honored Dr. Windsor as the United States’ “National Optometrist of the Year” in 1999, an award that had been given only 36 times in the history of the profession. In 2003, Dr. Windsor received the prestigious appointment as a “Distinguished Practitioner” of the National Academy of Practice. This honor is limited to only 150 distinguished practitioners and scholars in optometry in the United States. Dr. Windsor became only the 4th Indiana doctor of optometry to be honored a “Distinguished Practitioner” by the NAP. Recently, Dr. Windsor became Co-Chair of the National Academy of Optometry and served on the Council of the National Academies of Practice with representatives of the major healthcare professions. Dr. Windsor was also the first to receive all four annual awards of the Indiana Optometric Association having received the Indiana Optometrist of the Year, Young Optometrist of the Year, Distinguished Service Award and two Meritorious Service Awards. Dr. Windsor is a Past-President of the Indiana Optometric Association, the Indiana Low Vision Rehabilitation Society and Past Trustee of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He has served as the Indiana liaison to the American Optometric Association Low Vision Committee.
Dr. Windsor has written book chapters and numerous articles on low vision rehabilitation and has recently co-authored a book on the re-engineering of optometric practice with his daughter. He has lectured both state and nationally on low vision care, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and vision after rehabilitation of stroke and brain injury. He has special interest in bioptic driving and the rehabilitation of visual field loss. He served as a clinical researcher for a new lens for patients with visual field loss in a study being done by Harvard’s Schepen’s Eye Research Institute. Dr. Windsor works extensively in the rehabilitation of patients with vision loss. Dr. Windsor has been an innovator in developing ways to help individuals with visual impairment continues to drive safely. He has also done extensive work in fitting filtered contact lenses to control severe glare in Achromatopsia and Cone dystrophies.
Dr. Windsor practices optometry in Low Vision Centers of Indiana and Eye Associates Group LLC offices in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Hartford City, Indiana. He is married to Marjorie Windsor and they have five child including three adopted handicapped children. His daughter, Dr. Laura K. Windsor practices with him. He is a Past President of the Grant Blackford Mental Health Center, the Blackford United Way and the Blackford YMCA.
Dr. Ford received his Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science degrees from Indiana University where he was elected to the Alpha Lambda Academic Honor Society. He completed externships in treatment of ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at the Public Health Service in Browning Montana, the Indiana University 
Indianapolis Eye Clinic and the Low Vision Centers of Indiana. He is a past recipient of the Indiana Optometric Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year Award. He is a past president of the East Central Optometric Society, a member of the Indiana Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In 1983, his clinical research at Indiana University was published in the American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics. Dr. Ford is certified in Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. He has served as both a clinical and section head examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry for state licensing. Dr. Ford has lectured on the treatment of eye disease as well as low vision rehabilitation throughout Indiana. He helped develop comprehensive school vision screenings for kindergarten/1st grade children in Blackford and Jay Counties.
Dr. Ford joined The Eye Associates Group in August of 1983. He is trained to provide a full range of low vision eye care from infants to seniors.
In years passed, he has served the United Way as co-chair of the professional division. He was a charter board member and past president of Blackford County Economic Development Corporation. He was a past youth exchange officer for the local Rotary Club. He is a Master Mason, a twice Past-Master of Blackford Lodge #106 and is currently the Lodge’s Youth Scholarship Chairman. He has coached T-Ball, Little League baseball and youth league soccer. He holds a private pilot's license and also enjoys flying Radio Control aircraft. Dr. Ford and his wife, Donna are natives of Hartford City. They have three sons of whom they are very proud.
Laura K. Windsor, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Laura Windsor received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry, where she received the Essilor Award of Excellence, given to an outstanding student in her graduating class and the Varilux Award for an outstanding clinical paper. In June 2001 at the American Optometric Association 
annual meeting in Boston, she received the National Essilor Award in a competition among graduating doctors of optometry from all sixteen schools of optometry. She served as vice president of the Indiana University Optometric Student Association and was honored with a special award for her multiple contributions to the I.U. School of Optometry. Dr. Windsor followed in her father’s footsteps and joined him in practice with the Eye Associates Group, LLC in 2001. She previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Optometry from Indiana University and she is a graduate of the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities at Ball State University. Dr. Windsor trained in low vision care at the Indiana University Indianapolis Eye Care Center and the Low Vision Centers of Indiana. She completed neuro-ophthalmic, retinal, corneal, glaucoma and cataract training at the Muncie Eye Center and Indiana University Eye Care Centers. She received her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in December 2003 in Dallas, Texas. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry and the Indiana Low Vision Rehabilitation Society.
Dr. Windsor has published articles on low vision rehabilitation and in 2005 co-authored a book on reengineering the optometric practice. She has co-authored a quarterly column on low vision for Vision Enhancement Magazine. Dr. Windsor has lectured on low vision and treatment of eye disease and vision disordered to doctors, occupational therapists, hospital rehabilitation departments, nursing facilities and low vision support groups throughout Indiana. She also co-authored a national gold medal award-winning article on the application of the Internet to optometry.
Dr. Laura Windsor is a Hartford City, Indiana native and is married to Jeff Whetzel, a Roll native. They have a daughter named Tori, and a son Taylor. Dr. Laura serves as County Coordinator for Blackford County Special Olympics, is a Grants Committee Member for the Blackford County Community Foundation and is past Vice President and Corresponding Secretary of the Hartford City chapter of Tri Kappa sorority.
Dr. Windsor specializes in the low vision rehabilitation of those with vision loss from problems such as albinism, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, congenital eye diseases, stroke and traumatic brain injury. Driving with low vision is another area of emphasis in her practice. She does extensive work with bioptic driving.
