Uveitis and Cystoid Macular Edema
I was diagnosed with uveitis of my left eye about 1977. By the time my husband died in 1982 I had developed uveitis in my right eye and macular cysts and was having some difficulty driving and performing tasks requiring more perfect vision. I visited my ophthalmologist and he pretty much told me to go home and lock the doors. I wasn’t in a position to do that. One of the office girls took me aside and suggested I might want to visit Dr. Windsor, a low vision specialist in Hartford City. He fit me with glasses that enabled me to do my work and I worked until 1997. He also arranged for me to become a bioptic driver. I went to Indianapolis and drove with an instructor and passed. I was fit with glasses and have been very comfortable with them. They enable the driver to see a great distance down the road, read signs and stoplights. I am 75 years old and have been using this method of driving for a number of years. I am so thankful for this opportunity to lead a normal life and to send my last daughter to college.
